MARCH CLASS: We visited Saint Meinrad Monastery in Indiana and finished study on the Holy Trinity. We learned about how the early Church struggled with defining the identity of Jesus Christ. For example, there was significant debate on whether Jesus was created by God and perhaps divine but still less than God. Ultimately, the debate and divine guidance led to the understanding of Jesus as the Son of God and 2nd person of the Holy Trinity. The three distinct divine persons, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit make up the one true God. The Holy Trinity is a very dense theological subject. But, I definitely gained more insight that if God is three persons and humanity is created in the image of God, then it makes sense that we see our relationship with God not just as individuals, but more broadly as Family, Community and Nations. Maybe we are really… “all in this together.” 😀
