Blog Post #3 MIRACULOUS

OCTOBER CLASS — We focused on Mary’s unique role and cooperation in the work of Jesus Christ. We reviewed the book called There is No Rose by Aidan Nichols.  The book served as reference point to discuss the Church’s rich teaching on Mary. For an assignment, we wrote short papers on how Mary brings people closer to her Son.  In my paper, I touched on the “Hail Mary Pass”, in Football and how its a great example for hope that Mary displays.  Also, I enjoyed learning about Our Lady of Guadalupe miracles that occurred in 1531, and led to the conversion of millions of people.  The Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine is in Mexico City, Mexico and is on my travel bucket list.

MIRACULOUS MISSOURI — My Mom, Son, and I took a day trip to the Shrine of Our Lady of The Miraculous Medal in Perryville, Mo.  The Shrine is inspired by miracles associated with medallions worn around the neck. Over time, the Church eventually recognized the medallions as Miraculous Medals.  For a more complete history of the Miraculous Medal click here. The Shrine serves as a sacred space to help people grow in holiness while supporting the charitable work of local religious priests. The Shrine grounds are packed with memorials to spiritual giants inspired by Mary’s model of holiness.  We received a guided tour of the Chapel and learned about its history going back before Missouri’s statehood. Perfect fall weather made for a great walk of the Shrine grounds, pictures below.
